About your Teacher
Jim has been a practicing acupuncturist since 1987. He co-founded The Center for Healing Arts in Westminster, Maryland, a holistic healing center, in 1987. After leaving the Westminster center in 2009, he created the Samara Healing Center,(http://samarahealingcenter.com) a holistic and day retreat center, in Taneytown Maryland. In addition to his acupuncture training, Jim has training in shamanic healing and other energetic based hands-on therapies. He also is certified in the Deep Memory process developed by Dr. Roger Woolger, and the I Am Light training program developed by Susan Waters at Peace Valley Sanctuary in Caddo Gap, Arkansas.
A lifelong musician and multi instrumentalist, Jim completed the Healing Sounds Intensive with Jon and Andi Goldman in 2013. He began incorporating sound therapies into his healing practice that same year along with his son,Paul.(add link) Together they created a bi monthly sound healing clinic, improvising music centered around the use of a vibro-acoustic table(add link). In addition they created the Sounds of Spirit, sound healing ensemble, playing shamanic trance music for larger groups in the mid Atlantic region. They released a CD, Music for the Inner Journey, Live Performance Collection,(add link) in 2017.
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the use of sound and frequency to induce states of relaxation and meditation. This type of meditation is known as vibrational or frequency meditation, and it involves listening to specific tones and frequencies of sound in order to reach a deep state of relaxation. The tones and frequencies used in vibrational meditation can be generated from synthesized or musical instruments, or even from nature. Each frequency has its own unique vibration and energy, and when combined in certain ways, they can create a deep sense of inner peace and relaxation. Vibrational meditation has been used by many cultures for centuries, and it is becoming increasingly popular today. It is a safe, natural way to achieve physical, mental and emotional balance, and can be used as a powerful self-care tool. So, if you’re looking for a way to relax and re-center yourself, why not give vibrational meditation a try?
Meditation can be a powerful practice that helps to bring peace and clarity to the mind. Through the use of certain frequencies, we can access a deeper level of meditation. This can be done through the use of sound, such as binaural beats, or through the use of vibrational frequencies. By taking the time to explore these different frequencies and explore the depths of meditation, we can create a deeper connection with ourselves and with the universe.
Certification Requirements
I have put together for the certification course. I say “requirements” for several reasons. My goal for everyone is that you develop a minimum competency and confidence when we’re done so that you can facilitate an in unison with the earth event in your community. The requirements I have put together I hope will insure that outcome. Depending on your particular background I am flexible about what might be needed to achieve a level of comfort for each of you to do this publicly.
Here is what I ‘m asking.
Before officially “graduating” each of you would:
Put together you own guided meditation based on the principals I have taught and lead a meditation on a Friday morning at samara or via zoom for myself and other classmates.
Facilitate 3 events in your community and observe your classmates 3 times facilitating an event. Your observations must be with a minimum of two different people. I am asking that you write up a summary of each of these experiences about what you have learned(what worked and didn’t work). I want to encourage you to partner with several classmates to gain the experience of collaborating with each other and to gain an appreciation for other people’s styles. There is no limit to your creativity about how to put this together.
Keep experimenting until you hone in on what feels right for you. I will be posting online where we are all facilitating these events so we can support and continue to learn from each other.
